PLT / HPGL workflow

Convert PLT sewing patterns to printable PDF

Open plotting geometry, check the real dimensions, arrange the pieces, and create pages for the printer you already have.

What changes

A converter should preserve more than lines

A generic conversion can produce a PDF without answering the practical questions: Is the pattern still full size? Which sheets contain content? Are page overlaps and assembly labels included? Laytura keeps conversion and print preparation in one visible workflow.

Workflow

From source file to checked result

  1. 01

Open the PLT or HPGL file

Laytura interprets standard plotting commands using the established 0.0254 mm-per-unit scale.

  2. 02

    Check the detected pattern

Review dimensions, pieces, contours, and the 100% scale setting before export.

  3. 03

    Arrange for the page

Move, rotate, or compact pieces while collision protection helps prevent accidental overlap.

  4. 04

    Preview and export PDF

Choose A4, A3, Letter, or another supported paper size and inspect the exact sheets.

Questions

What to know before you start

Can I convert a PLT pattern to A4 PDF pages?

Yes. Open the PLT, keep scale at 100%, select A4, preview the sheets, and export the tiled PDF.

Is HPGL supported?

Yes. Laytura accepts PLT, HPGL, and HPG extensions for HP-GL pattern geometry.

Will the PDF remain actual size?

Laytura maps PLT units to millimetres and exports at the selected scale. Print with Actual size or 100% and verify the scale check before cutting.
